I never considered a “box” shape for the donation box; I wanted to
make the museum itself the donation box. I thought of the coin donated
as the alter ego of the donator. Imade a slit in the museum wall as
a new sort of entrance for museum activities.

When a coin is dropped through the slit, the metallic sound of
the falling coin is replaced by the sound of a water droplet falling into
a pool of water. The sound of the water droplet varies with the type
of coin donated. When you peek through the slit, you see drifting
images of light filtering through the trees in the museum grounds
and roppling reflections on a water surface.
